Autism Therapy

To our amazing families,

In light of the Provincial State of Emergency set for January 14, 2021, you may be wondering what it means for our therapy services.

As we are considered an essential service, we will continue to provide in-home services in Simcoe County, York Region, and North Peel (Caledon), and all scheduled appointments and assessments will be fulfilled as planned. In-home services for South Peel/Toronto regions have been paused since December 2020 and will continue to be paused until further notice. We will continue to provide virtual services for eligible learners across all regions.

If a child continues to receive in-home services, we will reach out to each therapist to determine their comfort level in continuing in-home services at this time. If a scheduled therapist chooses to pause services, we will provide the family a temporary therapist until the child’s assigned therapist resumes in-home services. We will contact all affected families by the end of the day January 14, 2021.

Now is more important than ever to make sure we are all strictly following public health protocols to keep our children safe, our therapists safe, and each other safe. We ask that families take time to review once more the in-home services COVID policies and procedures they previously received from Superminds and signed.

We are continuing to do our due diligence company-wide to keep our families and therapists safe.

Our therapists will continue to do temperature checks of child and self at arrival and departure, wear PPE throughout the entire session (mask and gloves), and follow strict cleaning and disinfecting procedures. Superminds will continue to assign only one instructor therapist per family and allow only two clinicians per team (instructor therapist and supervising therapist or instructor therapist and clinical supervisor) to provide in-home services. For families that have teams of three clinicians, the clinical supervisor will continue to conduct meetings via ZOOM.

This is a unique and unusual time for all of us, that’s for sure. Even in a pandemic – and maybe even MORE in a pandemic, we are here for you and your family. If you have any questions at all during this uncertain time, please do not hesitate to send us an email or to call us.

We will continue to provide updates of our status via email, social media and our website.

With gratitude, much love and warm wishes,

Owner/Clinical Director, Superminds Behaviour Therapy Services

MEET THE AUTHOR | ANDREA TALPOS, BCBA®

Owner & Clinical Director, Superminds Inc.

Hi, I'm Andrea! I coach clinical teams and parents on how to help children manage their bigger emotions, enhance their language and communication skills, and become independent little people.

I absolutely love shaping more difficult behaviour, developing social programs, working with AAC tools, coaching parents on sleep and toilet training, and researching evidence-based treatments.

The truth is, raising a little one of my own is teaching me first hand of the challenges parents face and has empowered me to become a powerhouse paediatric clinician.
