Social and educational pediatric Autism therapy programs offered by Superminds Autism Therapy across Simcoe County, Caledon, York Region, and surrounding areas
APPLIED BEHAVIOUR ANALYSIS (ABA)
ABA is an evidence based approach that uses and learning and motivation to affect socially significant change, and is used in various capacities across many different industries, such as education, mental health, and organizational management. ABA therapy has been long considered a gold standard in treatment for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

PROGRAMS AVAILABILE
FOCUSED ABA THERAPY or COMPREHENSIVE ABA THERAPY
PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY
The Superminds ABA therapy program is specialized for children ages 3 to 10 who have been diagnosed with Autism and/or ADD/ADHD.
The program is offered in home, daycare, or school across Simcoe County, Caledon, and York Region, or virtually for eligible learners. Each child’s program is overseen by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst® (BCBA®).
SKILLS DEVELOPED
Children entering the Superminds ABA therapy program learn foundational skills needed to be successful in their home and community environments, and to prepare them for school.
Children learn to manage their bigger emotions, follow simple and more complex instructions and schedules, effectively transition from preferred to less preferred activities, develop intrinsic motivation to initiate and complete tasks, and develop skills in areas of communication, expressive language, receptive language, social skills, play skills, imitation, joint attention, self-help skills, personal independence, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, visual performance, executive functioning, pre-academic and more.
FAMILY INVOLVEMENT
Parents are encouraged to provide input to the clinical team as these decisions are being made and parents are encouraged to join in the Superminds ABA therapy sessions as an opportunity to learn effective teaching strategies and help their child generalize skills learned in the Superminds ABA therapy program.
PROCESS AND PROGRAM OPTIONS
We begin with an assessment and then develop an Individualized Student Plan (ISP) that guides a child’s program, which can be either focused or comprehensive.
The Superminds Focused ABA therapy program is suitable for students that are receiving 6 to 19 hours of therapy per week. It focuses on a fewer number of domains at a time (typically 2 to 5), which are selected based on observed need, family needs, school reports, and domain specific assessment. Read more here.
The Superminds Comprehensive ABA therapy program is suitable for students that are receiving 20 to 30+ hours of therapy per week (also known as IBI, Intensive Behaviour Intervention). It covers a large number of domains (typically 10 to 15) at a time, which are selected based on observed need, family needs, reports from school and other professionals, and a comprehensive assessment (curriculuar, social, and/or adaptive). Read more here.
FUNDING OPTIONS FOR THE SUPERMINDS ABA THERAPY PROGRAM
In Ontario, expenses for ABA programs delivered to anyone under the age of 18 with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder can be covered through the Ontario Autism Program.

EARLY START DENVER MODEL (ESDM)
ESDM is an evidence-based therapeutic approach used to help young children diagnosed with Autism connect, communicate and learn new skills. In contrast to ABA therapy which is primarily instructor led (think elementary school), ESDM is primarily child led (think daycare). The play focused nature of ESDM makes it a very effective early intervention program for children with ASD.

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY
The Superminds ESDM therapy program is specialized for children ages 1 to 4 who have been diagnosed with Autism.
The program is offered in home, daycare, or school across Simcoe County, Caledon, and York Region. Each child’s program is overseen by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst® (BCBA®) who has introductory or advanced training in ESDM.
SKILLS DEVELOPED
Children entering the Superminds ESDM or ESDM/ABA blended program learn to connect, communicate and learn new skills. Due to the play-focused approach of ESDM, it is especially beneficial for children who have not had prior experience with therapy.
There are four levels in the ESDM program, Level 1 (12 – 18 months), Level 2 (18 – 24 months), Level 3 (24 – 36 months) and Level 4 (36 – 48 months), and each level assesses the following developmental domains: expressive and receptive communication, social skills and joint attention, imitation, cognition, play skills, fine and gross motors skills and personal independence skills.
FAMILY INVOLVEMENT
At Superminds, ESDM therapy sessions occur mainly on the floor, and parents/caregivers and families are active and integral participants in their child’s ESDM therapy session.
PROCESS AND PROGRAM OPTIONS
We begin with an ESDM assessment and then develop an Individualized Student Plan (ISP) that guides a child’s program, which can be either traditional ESDM or ABA/ESDM blend.
Children in the Superminds ESDM or ABA/ESDM blend program receive 10 hours/week of treatment in 13-week clinical cycles. The clinical team selects 2 to 3 goals from each domain to work on per clinical cycle.

The Steps to Enrol Your Child
STEP 1.
CONSULTATION
* FREE, 15-30 minutes long
Meet with the Superminds clinical manager, from the comfort and convenience of your own home, via phone or via a secure online platform (ZOOM).
PURPOSE: Identify a program that is most suitable for your child’s strengths and areas of need, as well as your family’s priority goals, discuss options for funding, and identify a schedule that works best for your family taking into account your child’s nap times, meal times, etc. Andrea will then send you a fee for service quote for your review.
DURATION: Approximately 15-30 minutes long
COST: FREE of charge
SCHEDULE A CONSULTATION:
STEP 2.
ASSESSMENT
Your family and child meets with one of the Superminds Board Certified Behaviour Analysts (BCBA) for an intake assessment (curricular, behavioural, adaptive, social, or a combination) based on your child’s strengths and areas of need, as well as your family’s priority goals, as identified during the initial consultation.
PURPOSE: Based on this evaluation, the BCBA establishes a therapy program appropriate for your child, provides you with an individualized program report (Individualized Student Plan) and assessment report, and provides recommendations for a clinical team whose expertise and areas of competence match your child’s profile.
DURATION: 1 assessment session (in-home), 1 to 1.5 hours long.
STEP 3.
PAIRING + TRANSITION
From the recommendations of the assessment, we pair your child with the most suitable clinical team and transition your child into services (if applicable).
PURPOSE: We set your child up for success! We only place therapists that are competent and experienced as per your child’s strengths and areas of need, as well as your family’s goals. For some learners, it is also beneficial to transition into services slowly.
DURATION: Minimum 2 hours per week, minimum 1 hour sessions, for 2 to 4 weeks
STEP 4.
DIRECT THERAPY
Each week, your child meets with his/her therapist for their unique, individualized therapy session.
The clinical supervisor (if applicable) and supervising therapist monitors and updates your child’s goals weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly, depending on the number of direct therapy hours your child receives per week, and meets with you every 3 months to review and discuss your child’s progress and establish new goals (if applicable).
Parents and family members are encouraged to join sessions when their availability allows. A camera can be placed in the therapy space so parents and family members can watch the sessions while the session is occurring, or later in the day at their convenience. This allows parents and family members to see the goals their child is working on and the strategies his/her therapists are using!
After each session, parents receive a session report and a list of skills their child learned so parents can practice the skills with their child.
INCLUDED: session reports and report of learned skills after each session, team meeting with families at month 3 to review goals and progress on goals
OPTIONS: virtual (eligible learners only) or in-home (Simcoe, Caledon, York Region)
In addition to direct Autism therapy programs, we also offer:
